Summary

I never wanted to be a vampire queen。

But on the bright (if not sunny) side of the debacle, I’ve got a super-hot new boyfriend。 And he just might be the perfect guy。

Well, if the perfect guy ghosts you for a month and then comes back to school with a new look, a pack of friends, and a secret。 But we have bigger problems。

The Drainers are back。 They’re singing a different song, but have they really changed?

Even worse, werewolves’ hearts are being ripped from their bodies—which is putting the people I love in danger。 I need to figure out who is behind the murders before there’s an all-out vampire-werewolf war。

No one is going to mess with my friends, even the ones who like to get wild and howl at the moon。

Sometimes, all a girl can do is grab her tiara and start kicking some supernatural ass。。。

“I’m with the Banned” by Marlene Perez is the second installment in the Afterlife series。 17-year-old Tansy Mariotti has her life flipped around in the wake of saving her dearest companion Skylar Avrett, and killing the vampire king, subsequently turning into the Queen of the Vampires of California。 Tansy was raised by her grandmother after her mom deserted her。 She’s presently viewed as a Strija Vie, which implies that she’s a vampire and witch crossbreed。 Even though Tansy is Queen of the Vamp “I’m with the Banned” by Marlene Perez is the second installment in the Afterlife series。 17-year-old Tansy Mariotti has her life flipped around in the wake of saving her dearest companion Skylar Avrett, and killing the vampire king, subsequently turning into the Queen of the Vampires of California。 Tansy was raised by her grandmother after her mom deserted her。 She’s presently viewed as a Strija Vie, which implies that she’s a vampire and witch crossbreed。 Even though Tansy is Queen of the Vampires, she can’t escape going to High School and being ensured by Rose and Thorn who work for PAC (Paranormal Activities Committee)。 Tansy misses the daylight。 She needs to utilize a parasol to shield her from, the serious light while additionally drinking a solution created by her grandmother that prevents her from blood live from a person。 On top of attempting to figure out the previous king’s property, and keeping vampires like they previously were, she’s missing Vaugh Sheridan who has been away for quite a long time preparing to be a tracker。 At the point when he returns, things start twisting。 Something happened to Vaugh when he was in Texas and he would not like to tell Tansy。 Tansy becomes familiar with reality after werewolves turn up dead with their souls missing and she accepts vampires are responsible。 To make matters worse, Tansy’s mom Venessa comes back。 What will happen now?I loved reading this book。 This book was an incredible development to the main book in the series。 This is a series that definitely should be pursued together since the occasions in this book expand on all that occurred in the main book。 This story was a pleasant young-adult fantasy read on vampires which made it an engaging read。 This book was energizing。This is certainly not a profound read but instead one with huge loads of fun。 The primary character has a great deal of moxie and as a lover of vampire-related stories, it is giving a valiant effort to adjust everything。 Also, considering that the main character is young, it is too much going on。 She’s enjoyable to find out about, her considerations do cause chuckles sprinkled between the more hazardous scenes。 It’s a great blend。 There were amazing twists and turns at the end as well。 I highly recommend this book to people who are starting with the paranormal genre。 。。。more

Tansy is trying to adjust to being the Vampire Queen。 She lives with her granny, who she trusts more than anyone else in the world。 Tansy discovers more about her estranged mother and the father she’s never known。 Her boyfriend Vaughn is dealing with life changing issues on his own。 The book starts out recapping the events from the first book and moves onto more intensity。 I enjoyed the mix of characters and events which made an enjoyable read, 4 stars!

This book wasn’t as fun as its predecessor, “Afterlife of the Party”, but it did give us readers some answers we were looking for that the previous book was sorely lacking, and introduced more questions that will keep us interested enough to want to read the next book just to see who these people who are mentioned (but not seen) are, where certain other people disappeared to, and what is going to happen to certain interpersonal dynamics after the significant amount and severity of events that ha This book wasn’t as fun as its predecessor, “Afterlife of the Party”, but it did give us readers some answers we were looking for that the previous book was sorely lacking, and introduced more questions that will keep us interested enough to want to read the next book just to see who these people who are mentioned (but not seen) are, where certain other people disappeared to, and what is going to happen to certain interpersonal dynamics after the significant amount and severity of events that happened during this book。 And there was a lot that went on in this book。 Whereas “Afterlife of the Party” pretty much centered on a singular plotline: follow the friend, try and save the friend, try to not die in the process, “I’m With the Banned” has quite a few balls up in the air, and it doesn’t juggle all of them easily。 Some balls are hovering in the air and about the come down that were left over from the first book, some are tossed up at the beginning of this book and get tossed up and down throughout the book, and some get tossed up late in the game so they are left hovering in the air as the book closes out。 That accounts for why this second book in the series is longer than the first, to be sure。 For the positive, I did like that the book was longer。 It seemed the right length for a second book in a YA series。 I liked that Ms。 Perez actually paid attention to her plot threads and wound some of them up or at least tended to them and didn’t let them hang loose or just dangle there without being addressed in some way。 The book was edited well, and I have no complaints about the pacing。 It moved at exactly the speed it was supposed to, in my opinion。 For the negative, I could’ve gone without seeing vampires and werewolves going toe-to-toe yet again, even if they’re being as political and civil about it as possible。 Also, the “turn” and the villain reveal were so predictable to me I called it before I was 30% of the way through the book。 From that point, I was just reading to get to that point。 I’m not saying that the reading from that point wasn’t wholly unenjoyable, but I just knew exactly where we were driving the car to。 It was just a matter of getting there。 There were new creatures, new spells, and new characters。 Some were good ideas and some weren’t。 That’s just how it goes。 Am I upset or disappointed with the book? No。 It’s the second book in a YA series。 Sometimes this happens。 Just go along for the ride and relax。 。。。more

Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for an ARC of this book。 All opinions in this review are my own。I absolutely loved Afterlife & was very excited to read Banned - and it did not disappoint。 It had all of the same characters we loved from Afterlife, plus some fun new ones we both love & love to hate, character growth, and unravelling the new big bad。 I felt like there was a lot more of a strain on the different relationships in this book than the first one, but I am going to pass part of Thank you to NetGalley and Entangled Teen for an ARC of this book。 All opinions in this review are my own。I absolutely loved Afterlife & was very excited to read Banned - and it did not disappoint。 It had all of the same characters we loved from Afterlife, plus some fun new ones we both love & love to hate, character growth, and unravelling the new big bad。 I felt like there was a lot more of a strain on the different relationships in this book than the first one, but I am going to pass part of it off as it being the second in a series so it needed to have some tension to get dragged out for the third book, and part of it as residual from the first book cliffhanger。 It was fun to see the changes of the characters between Afterlife and Banned, and I was finding myself getting annoyed with Tansy, which was strange considering I was so much in her corner in Afterlife。 I am very excited for the third book because so much was set up in this one, and I think there is going to be a great payoff if the first two books are any indication。 4。5/5 。。。more

As we follow the story of Tansy in I’m With the Banned, we read about her struggle to keep up with her new responsibility as Vampire Queen of the California Realm while simultaneously finish high school。 However life seems to be going back to “normal”, she has her best friend Skyler at her side and her cute boyfriend Vaughn as well。 But will she ever have it easy? Strange murders are happening around that can possibly incriminate her, disagreements with people she trusts keep happening and unwanted characters come into play。 It is up to her to fix everything and she is ready!!I will start by saying I’m team Tansy, I was rooting for her the entire book。 You can definitely notice her improvement from The Afterlife of the Party and she deserves everything!! She is an incredibly loyal friend, fiercely protective, she spends her time trying to get the hang of her new responsibilities as a vampire queen AND trying to bring peace。 I definitely believe she needs better friends though, it infuriated me how she was always patient and quick to forgive both Skyler and Vaughn when honestly they did not deserve it。 However she still gave them a piece of her mind every time she felt she was being misjudged and I was all here for it!! As always, Granny and her Old Crones Book Club were AMAZING。 This book club in particular is not ordinary at all, in fact it’s more of a witch’s club (although they do enjoy reading too) and I love how supportive they are to Tansy。 She and her Granny have an excellent relationship and I thought it was so adorable that the team members of the club take care of her too。 We also get to hang around more with Rose and Thorn, who we meet in the first book and are pretty cool。 And surprisingly Travis also appears in this book, but somehow less evil and I kinda liked him? He has a country-and-western band now, but promises to behave。 Tansy’s reaction the moment she saw him was hilarious :I squinted at him。 “That guy,” I said。 “For some reason, I want to punch him in the face。”Lol! Anyway, I’m With the Banned was such a great read for me, the plot was entertaining, it was fast-paced and the story flowed so well。 And even though I liked the first book, I enjoyed this one even more since I was more acquainted with the characters specially with Tansy。 This series really keeps getting better and better。 Full of supernatural creatures including witches, vampires, werewolves and even pie-loving hellcats, I’m With the Banned is the perfect read for the spooky season with a nice dash of comedy (very much appreciated)! The third book in the Afterlife series cannot come soon enough!! 。。。more

I did read the 1st book in this series and enjoyed it as a fun, easy read, but I found this one to be even better。 And yes, this one needs to be read as a series since this book does build off of the events and characters of this first one。Now, that she's the Queen of the Vampires。。。or at least, for the district, and a witch, the politics of her situation are becoming a hard balance。 Her laws are very different than the ones of her eviler predecessor, and the other paranormal communities aren't I did read the 1st book in this series and enjoyed it as a fun, easy read, but I found this one to be even better。 And yes, this one needs to be read as a series since this book does build off of the events and characters of this first one。Now, that she's the Queen of the Vampires。。。or at least, for the district, and a witch, the politics of her situation are becoming a hard balance。 Her laws are very different than the ones of her eviler predecessor, and the other paranormal communities aren't ready to trust her。 Add the werewolves automatic hate for vampires, which is being kept at bay simply because her boyfriend is a werewolf, and it's a sticky situation。 Especially when something keeps killing werewolves and they want to blame the vampires。This is not a deep read but rather one with tons of tension fun。 The main character has a lot of spunk and as a newbie to this entire vampire thing, is doing her best to balance it all。 And considering she's still a teen, it's a lot on her plate。 She's fun to read about, though, and her thoughts do cause some laughs and giggles sprinkled between the more dangerous scenes。 It's a fun mixRomantically, it's not as exciting as it could be as it becomes more of a battle to keep the werewolves and everyone balanced。 Although there are some surprises on this end, too。 But if you're reading this only for romantic tension, it's more of a fun action read (which I prefer)。 The hero is swoon-worthy, though, and things don't always turned out as expected, which keeps this book on its toes。I can't wait to see if and when book 3 hits the shelves because these characters are quite a bit of fun for those simple reading moments。I received an ARC and really enjoyed this one。 。。。more

YOU HAVE NO EXCUSE SKYLAR, NONE。I almost started to like Vaughn, but then he would choose his friends over Tansy every time。 I get it Vaughn, you have responsibilities and all that, but if you've been in love with her for so long why are you neglecting her now when you have her?Tansy would go to hell and back for her friends, which she keeps proving time and time again, and yet they can't extend the same courtesy to her。 It's infuriating。Rose and Thorn got bigger roles, it's what they deserve。 I hope we get to know them even more in the next book。Surprisingly, Travis is becoming one of my favourite characters in the world。 He's a lot funnier now that he's not kidnapping girls to drain them dry。 I'm digging the western vibe, and how he's always at the wrong place at the wrong time。I don't have much to say about the wolf pack, except if they don't all start liking Tansy ASAP I'm throwing hands。 They're cool though (not Connor)。Hecate is one of the new characters too, and I want to hug the hell out of her。 See what I did there? Authors don't often use hellcats in books, and Hecate is the prime example of why they should start。 You cannot go wrong with a floofy hellcat who likes pies。 There's another character who comes back, but I won't spoil it for anyone who hasn't read it yet。 I just want it known that I hate them with the passion of a thousand burning suns。Now for the other tidbits。This is one of those books that you can binge in a day if you feel like it。 And you should feel like it, because it's super fun。 Dare I say, even more entertaining than book one? I do dare。 The writing is better in this one too。 In my review of The Afterlife of the Party, I said how it was choppy on occasion。 Definitely not the case here, everything flows smoothly。I can't wait to see what shenanigans these characters will be up to next。 Less than a year till that happens, I'm counting down the days。*Thank you to the publishers and NetGalley for providing me with an e-ARC in exchange for an honest review* 。。。more

Thank you Entangled Teen and Marlene for advance ecopy of the book。 I’m enthralled by this book。 It’s a YA supernatural, I liked the first book but this second book is mind blowing。 The events that happen will keep you hooked。 The character development is great, and so is the chemistry between Vaughn & Tansy。 There is an undeniable spark。 It’s exciting。Tansy is a witch/vampire newly made Queen of vampires which is a compelling combination, having both the traits。 Vaughn is the childhood friend a Thank you Entangled Teen and Marlene for advance ecopy of the book。 I’m enthralled by this book。 It’s a YA supernatural, I liked the first book but this second book is mind blowing。 The events that happen will keep you hooked。 The character development is great, and so is the chemistry between Vaughn & Tansy。 There is an undeniable spark。 It’s exciting。Tansy is a witch/vampire newly made Queen of vampires which is a compelling combination, having both the traits。 Vaughn is the childhood friend and with recent developments in the last book became Tansy’s boyfriend。 The theme of the book is set upon Tansy's new found throne and the struggles that come along with power。 Being just a teenager, it is immensely difficult for her to deal woth everything。 And on top of it the murders and the threat to whatever peace her land, her people have, it is good to read。The arc of a secret that Vaughn is keeping from Tansy is bang on。 It complicates the relationship but also gives an edge to it。 It’s a full on roller coaster ride and action packed story。 The book has secrets, return of enemy, weird relations, trust issues, betrayal and also explores new facts about the Supernatural World。Tansy & Vaughn from the first book are a great team and dealing with new responsibilities are alot to handle but with each other they overcome everything。 。。。more

After the exciting events of Afterlife of the Party (which I loved so very much) I was impatiently waiting for this book, and I’m With the Banned doesn’t disappoint! The story starts out with Tansy staring in her new role as Queen of the Vampires and having a lot more responsibilities with a steep learning curve! She not only has to continue with her human responsibilities, like school and being a teenager but also with keep the vampires in line and that is a full-time job in and of itself。 Esp After the exciting events of Afterlife of the Party (which I loved so very much) I was impatiently waiting for this book, and I’m With the Banned doesn’t disappoint! She not only has to continue with her human responsibilities, like school and being a teenager but also with keep the vampires in line and that is a full-time job in and of itself。 Especially while she is still learning all the rules。On top of that Tansy is missing Vaughn, her handsome and fun boyfriend, after a summer apart。 As excited as she can be, Tansy is looking forward to the first day of school because she will finally be reunited with Vaughn, or so she believes… Vampires, Werewolves, the return of The Drainers, murder and more make up this action packed supernatural story。 This story is another fantastic supernatural adventure that is full of wonderful characters, snarky lines, funny moments, twists, turns and a plot that will have the reader addicted to turning the pages。 I devoured this story in one sitting and immediately wanted more because I was not ready to say goodbye to these characters nor this world! I hope this series continues。 Highly recommended。 I received an ARC via NetGalley and Entangled Publishers and I am leaving an honest review。 。。。more

Tansy is a busy high school senior。 She's got school, homework, a catering gig on the side, a hot boyfriend and a finicky best friend, not to mention the upcoming homecoming dance! You know, all those things that take up your time when you're seventeen。 Well, to top it all off, she's the freaking Queen of the (California) Vampires! What's a girl to do? This is a fun read, a mix of the dazzle and swoon of Twilight and the supernatural world building of True Blood。 I did come late to the party tho Tansy is a busy high school senior。 She's got school, homework, a catering gig on the side, a hot boyfriend and a finicky best friend, not to mention the upcoming homecoming dance! This is a fun read, a mix of the dazzle and swoon of Twilight and the supernatural world building of True Blood。 I did come late to the party though, this is book two of the series。 There's enough exposition to glean what happened in the first book, but more history probably would have added to my enjoyment of this one。 There are some continuity challenges with the story, but I think that's beside the point。 Vampires, Werewolves, Hellcats (this is a new one), and Witches! Who knows what can happen with that mix? This is a story about surviving the almost dead。I read both the first book & this one this weekend & was pleasantly surprised by how fun they were! I love a good horror comedy (esp bc it’s the season!) & these were highly entertaining。 Semi spoiler ahead- not for anything specific but a couple general thing I didn’t love:The MC’s best friend is the actual WORST。 Our protagonist is willing to walk through fire for her, and she’s honestly pretty awful in return… And I love strong friendships in bo This is a story about surviving the almost dead。I read both the first book & this one this weekend & was pleasantly surprised by how fun they were! Queen Tansy has problems。 Her boyfriend has major secrets and doesn’t smell right。 There is a werewolf killer on the loose and the pack is sure it’s a vampire。 Somebody sent Hellcats after her and her mom is back。 It was fun going back and joining Tansy。 My feelings for her are still not that sympathetic。 She whines a lot and is still so insecure in her roll as queen。 And she definitely should talk more with the people around her! Can’t wait for the next book and how the Vanessa problem is resol Queen Tansy has problems。 Her boyfriend has major secrets and doesn’t smell right。 There is a werewolf killer on the loose and the pack is sure it’s a vampire。 Somebody sent Hellcats after her and her mom is back。 It was fun going back and joining Tansy。 My feelings for her are still not that sympathetic。 She whines a lot and is still so insecure in her roll as queen。 And she definitely should talk more with the people around her! I received an e-arc from the publisher, nowhere on netgalley did this mention it being a sequel。 I didn't know until I opened the book。I honestly should have done some research before requesting this。 20 pages in and I have to dnf because I didn't read/know about book 1, and book 2 doesn't make sense without it。 I received an e-arc from the publisher, nowhere on netgalley did this mention it being a sequel。 I didn't know until I opened the book。I honestly should have done some research before requesting this。 20 pages in and I have to dnf because I didn't read/know about book 1, and book 2 doesn't make sense without it。 。。。more

I'M WITH THE BANNED is an intriguing continuation in a fun vampire series, full of sarcasm, surprises, and plenty of unsavory undead。 Tansy is now a striga vie, a vampire-witch hybrid, and queen of the vampires。 She really just wants everything to get back to normal, with her newly instated rules in place for vampire-kind。 However, it seems like life has other plans。 Her boyfriend seems to be avoiding her, her BFF's ex is back in town, and the obnoxious vampire band has come back as a country-we I'M WITH THE BANNED is an intriguing continuation in a fun vampire series, full of sarcasm, surprises, and plenty of unsavory undead。 Tansy is now a striga vie, a vampire-witch hybrid, and queen of the vampires。 She really just wants everything to get back to normal, with her newly instated rules in place for vampire-kind。 However, it seems like life has other plans。 Her boyfriend seems to be avoiding her, her BFF's ex is back in town, and the obnoxious vampire band has come back as a country-western group with a whole new vocabulary。As Tansy tries to figure out what strange things are afoot, she begins to navigate paranormal being politics, solve werewolf murders, and maintain her relationship with her boyfriend。 Easy-peasy, right?I really enjoy the sarcastic voice that is used throughout the book, as well as the sweet romance。 Even though it takes a backseat to all the other major events, she and Vaughn are so great together, and it was lovely to see them navigate new challenges。 The mystery of the book, while parts were unpredictable, I found some of it a little too easy to predict。 That being said, the journey was still pretty fun, though the sarcasm is pretty heavy at times。 I did appreciate some of the unexpected twists that came later about Tansy's family。A major theme of this book was around trust and communication, as Tansy tries to figure things out and maintain her relationships with her grandmother, boyfriend, and BFF。 This added an intriguing layer to the plot, which manages to be mostly a humorous, paranormal mystery/suspense。 I absolutely adored the subplots of the hellcats, complete with pies。 They might be my new favorite characters。The book does end with a bit of a cliffhanger, and while we get some answers, the big resolutions are yet to come。 This is definitely a series I am curious to continue。Overall, I'M WITH THE BANNED is an intriguing sequel to a sarcastic and entertaining YA fantasy suspense。 Recommend for people who like their vampires evil (and not so handsome)。Please note that I received an ARC from the publisher。 All opinions are my own。 。。。more
